Podcast Advent Day 10: Happy Place
Day 10 and I'm sharing a podcast from a British broadcaster whom I love. It's Happy Place hosted by Fearne Cotton.
Fearne is a bubbly woman in her mid-40s who is very self-reflective and takes a lot of time for self and family care. She's also very down to earth and speaks about life and the different things that come up in life in a very accessible way that make it feel as though you're both walking into the conversation together, side by side and we'll figure it out together side by side.
The topics of conversation with her guest Kate Winslet on today's chosen episode, weave from Kate's experience as an actor turned director and being a woman in the film industry which as I'm sure you can imagine, comes with its own baggage. I really appreciate a lot of the honesty that there is between Kate and Fearne in this conversation as two women a little older than me, who have worked hard to navigate family and industry expectations.
I'm adding the caveat today that I probably shouldn't share, which is I have only listened to a couple of episodes of this podcast before. It turns out coming up with 24 different podcasts that you would happily recommend to. Somebody else is quite tricky. Do you only stick with the ones that you listen to ritually or is there the space to lean into things you've been intrigued by but haven't spent that much time listening to?
I'm pleased to add this one because as I mentioned I love Fearne. I think she has a fantastic energy about her which is fun and loving and she's also very familiar to me having grown up watching her. But I also think this podcast sits just on the outside of the topics I would usually spend my time listening to. It's serious without being too serious. And I know someone out there will appreciate it, if not many people. I certainly did and will now remember to pull it back into my rotation.
